How social media changed protest

It is very difficult to imagine life without social networks. Through them we meet, communicate, consume content and receive news. The organization of anything, from birthdays to multi-thousand protest marches, also happens in social networks. But it was not always so: in the analog era, people depended on the will of traditional media and their owners, without whose help it was very difficult to disseminate information and coordinate. The emergence of social networks became not only a technical but also a social revolution: a wave of protest movements swept across the world, no longer dependent on states and media magnates.
