Putin's Secret Propagandist: Kristina Potupchik's Empire of Fake News

Duration: 40min 23sec Type: Standup

Description

"Kristina Potupchik is an odious character of the late 2000s.
Until 2012, Potupchik was the press secretary of the Kremlin youth movement Nashi, which was behind attacks on the opposition and independent media. Together with Nashi leader Vasily Yakemenko, she created the first botnets in LiveJournal, introduced fake news and paid bloggers in black cash for viral content. In the mid-2010s, she began to supervise a network of Telegram channels, creating some from scratch and seizing others through raider attacks. After the start of a full-scale war, Potupchik added another line of activity - laundering the reputations of guilty stars.

Irina Alleman followed the propagandist's path - from Nashi to Moskvichka magazine."
