The Advancement of Neurotechnology
Description
The conversation is devoted to systemic problems of modern science and technology — from the gap between discoveries and their application to the lack of effective mechanisms for funding socially significant projects. Focused Research Organizations (FRO) models are discussed as an alternative to traditional institutions. Particular attention is paid to the prospects of neurotechnology, brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and the role of AI in accelerating biomedical research — from Alzheimer's therapy using CRISPR to brain emulation. The issues of neuromorphic AI, the ethics of digital minds, emotions and consciousness in AI are touched upon, as well as the need for a strategic approach and technological roadmaps in scientific breakthroughs against the backdrop of the approaching AGI.
