Alexandra Bochaver, "On the Internet as in the Wild West"
Lecture by research associate Alexandra Bochaver from the Center for Contemporary Childhood Studies, HSE University, on forms of aggression on the internet, including cyberbullying, hate speech, and other manifestations. She compares the early internet to the “Wild West,” where the absence of rules and anonymity fostered unique forms of aggressive behavior. Special attention is given to teenagers, for whom the internet has become an important socialization space but also a zone of vulnerability to bullying, trolling, and manipulation.
